The group will travel together. Independent power supply throughout the
Mission’s travel in Uganda will be supplied by Solar Energy Uganda. Remember that only 4% of the country’s
population has access to electricity.

The group flies from
Brussels to Entebbe-Uganda.
Arrives at 8.00pm, Picked up by SEU and Organizing Committee, and
taken to Namirembe Guest House for supper, then sleep at Namirembe. |
Thu July 29 (AM) (PM) |
The group meets its
Ugandan counter part, gets breakfast together, attend a prayer service,
receive Bible Teaching from Bishop Hathaway; learn history of the Gospel and
Uganda from Bishop William Rukirande; learn about Solar electric light
changing lives from Alden
Hathaway; learn about and how to install systems from John Ssemanda, and get final
briefing on the entire program from Richard Kanyike, Group meets the First
Lady, Government officials and Church leaders. Drive to the Cardinal’s church (Entebbe area) to put up
a solar installation. (Lunch there). Visit and assess night market lit up by kerosene lamps. Back to Kampala, supper, group activities, sleep. |
Fri July 30 (Noon) Evening |
Early breakfast. Then travel to Mityana 60 miles from Kampala. Finish up installing solar system in a school. Participate in the Opening Ceremony of Phase II Church Solar Project in Mityana (COU). The First Lady to be present. All the church leaders of the COU, Catholics, Seventh Day Adventists, Moslems, and US Ambassador, Government officials, to be present. The US Ambassador will turn on the switch. Visit Central Buganda
Dioceses. Visit two solar
installations. Get interview
with Charles and Rebecca’s/ how solar energy has transformed the life of the
community. Drive to Bishop John
Kaggwa - Masaka Diocese. Food and lodging at Kitovu Guest
House. |
Sat July 31 |
Drive to Bigada. Finish up a solar installation in a
school. Visit one installation
in one church in Tanzania, drive back to Masaka. Food and lodging at Kitovu Guest House. |
Sun Aug 1 |
Service at Katigondo
Seminary. Breakfast. Address. Then drive to Kabale in SW
Uganda. Complete and
finish one installation in Kigezi, and visit one installation in Rwanda. Food and lodging in Kabale. |
Mon Aug 2 |
Drive to Kinkizi
Diocese. Install, and visit
several installations including that of the mission to the Pygmies. Plan on how the solar program can
transform their lives. Stay at
Kinkizi Guest House. |
Tus Aug 3 |
Drive to West Ankole. Complete the solar installation in
one school. Meet the students
and faculty who will get the INTERNET, visit several installations. Food and lodging to be arranged by
SEU and West Ankole Diocese. |
Wed Aug 4 |
Visit East Ankole. Lunch
at East Ankole. Install or finish installing one school. Visit some schools already installed. Drive to South Rwenzori/Bishop
Masereka. Food & Accommodation in Kasese. |
Thu Aug 5 |
Visit one school, then
drive to Hoima – Bunyoro Kitara.
Arrive in Evening. Meet Bishops: Wilson and Deogratias. Food and lodging |
Fri Aug 6 |
Install two schools: one
in Bishop Wilson Diocese and another one in Bishop Deogratias’ diocese. |
Sat Aug 7 |
Trip to Murchison
Falls. Come back in
evening. Visit the Orphanage,
Vocational school, etc.. as arranged by Diocese. |
Sun Aug 8 |
Service at Cathedral in the morning. Then drive back to Kampala. Arrive at Namirembe in the evening. Supper and sleep. |

Visit two schools - King’s College S.S.S. in the
morning

Visit with Uganda First
Lady and Parliament. Bishop

Final shopping. Snacks with SEU staff, drive to Airport at 6.00pm, then
catch Sabena at 9.00 to Brussels. |

back to the US. |
