Welcome to the SolarQuest I-NetNews! Today we are broadcasting from the New York Hall of Science in Queensborough, New York, NY, as the 1998 NESEA American Tour de Sol begins celebrating its 10th Anniversary U.S. Electric Vehicle Championship race from New York City to Washington D.C. The NESEA Tour is a program of the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association, Greenfield, MA.
Our team of I-NetNews correspondents from Chelsea High School (Chelsea, VT) and U-32 High School (Montpelier, VT) will be documenting the performance races, festivals, media events, speakers, educational workshops, hosts, sponsors and, most importantly, the contestants themselves as they compete against previous race records in five categories of electric vehicles.
Each day of the race the SolarQuest I-NetNews correspondents will provide coverage of the key events with a focus on the six high school and fourteen college contestants. One race team is from a middle school in Vermont. Their cars are remarkable machines, and the contestants are truly unique individuals. The I-NetNews Team will provide in-depth interviews with contestants, detailed performance data of their vehicles, and an analysis of vehicle technology.
The exhibit at the New York Hall of Science was attended by hundreds of students from all over the City eager to learn about the electric vehicle technology of the future and to see production vehicles that are available today! You can see all these vehicles as you follow the NESEA Tour on the I-NetNews.
Our hosts at the Hall of Science provided guided tours of exhibits for our correspondents. I highly recommend a visit to the Hall of Science! The day ended with a festival lunch and an orientation meeting from the NESEA race director, Nancy Hazard.
As the I-NetNews Team travels with the NESEA Tour, we look forward to
hearing from you. E-mail us at TOUR@solarquest.com.
